Virtual Collection Megabytes (Malcolm Cowley (August 24, 1898 – March 27, 1989) was an author, literary critic, editor, poet, and historian. His works include Blue Juniata (1929) and Exile’s Return (1934). A native of Belsano, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, his parents were William and Josephine Hutmacher Cowley. Malcolm Cowley graduated from Peabody High School and attend Harvard University before serving as an ambulance and truck driver for the French Army during World War I. After returning to Harvard in 1919, he was editor of The Harvard Advocate and he graduated with a BA in 1920. In 1985, Malcolm Cowley received an honorary degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). In 1994, a historical marker dedicated to Malcolm Cowley was placed on Route 422 in Belsano, Pennsylvania (see Manuscript Group 139 Box 5 Folder 2) ) : Virtual Collection
