1 box Linear Feet (Dr. Barbara Balsiger, daughter of James C. and Georgina Kahle Balsiger, Rixford, Pennsylvania (June 30, 1927-October 15, 2011) was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania, and passed away in Palm Harbor, Florida. She received a Bachelor's Degree in English History and Art from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), Master's Degree in Art History from University of Iowa and the first woman to receive History of Art Doctorate from University of Pittsburgh. She was also awarded Fullbright Scholarship, studying in Austria. As a Professor at IUP, Dr. Balsiger founded the Art History program and University Museum. She established the University Museum in 1976. She also taught in the Otto-Eldred and Bradford school districts. Upon retirement from Indiana University, Dr. Balsiger moved to Florida.
