1 box Linear Feet (Ida Minerva Tarbell (November 5, 1857-January 6, 1944) was born in Amity Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania. In 1880, graduated from Allegheny College and became a teacher in Poland, Ohio, before pursuing a career in writing. Ida Tarbell was an American teacher, author, and journalist known for investigative journalism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Her 1904 book The History of the Standard Oil Company, was first serialized in McClure’s Magazine in 1902-1904. This collection contains background information and correspondence related to a symposium documentary, and information about a preservation workshop hosted by the Oil Region Alliance in 2016-2017.
