1 box Linear Feet (A native of Long Island, New York, Edward Nardi has had a remarkably diverse career in higher education. After graduating from high school, he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army in Vietnam in 1966-1967. Nardi graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a BS in Elementary Education in 1972. He taught Elementary School for one year in the Wallkill Central School District in New York. In 1973, Nardi started attending Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he was a Residence Hall Director. He earned his MS in College Student Personnel Services in 1975. From 1976 to 1985, Edward Nardi was at Bloomsburg State College (Bloomsburg University) in several different positions including the Assistant Dean of Student Life (1976-1982), the Director of Residence Life (1977-1978), the Assistant to the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Extended Programs (1982-1983 and 1984-1985), and Associate Registrar (1983-1984). In 1982-1983, he participated in a management internship program at Bloomsburg that gave him experience working in several departments. In 1985, Edward Nardi began his 30-year career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) when he accepted the position of Division Director for the Division of Credit Programs in the School of Continuing Education, see Record Group 16: School of Continuing Education and Non-Resident Education. In 1990, he became the Assistant Dean of Credit Programs in the School of Continuing Education. During this time, Nardi designed and implemented a full-time undergraduate off-campus center in Bedford, Pennsylvania; contributed to the establishment of the IUP Monroeville Center, and initiated the collaborative academic program and articulation agreement between the Community College of Allegheny County and the IUP College of Education. In 1996, Dr. Nardi completed his Doctorate of Education in Counselor Education from IUP. From 1997 to 1999, he was the Associate Dean in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Nardi served one year as the Dean of the Armstrong County Campus in Kittanning, before returning to main campus to become the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Education and Educational Technology in 2000. In 2012-2013, he served as Interim Dean of the College of Education and Educational Technology (see Record Group 17). The Dr. Edward Nardi collection includes biographical information including an oral history interview, correspondence, documents including job performance evaluations, and photographs. This collection was donated in 2015 by Dr. Edward Nardi upon his retirement as the Associate Dean in the College of Education and Educational Technology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).
