1 box Linear Feet (Charles Robert Anderson (November 7, 1917-January 9, 2007) was the son of Thomas Harrison Anderson (October 30, 1888-January 15, 1956) and Jennie Edith Nicholas Anderson (April 3, 1888-May 26, 1986) who graduated from Indiana State Normal School (ISNS) in 1910. The Anderson family is a multi-generational family from Indiana and Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Charles Robert Anderson was born in Center Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and both of his parents were teachers. He graduated from Indiana State Teachers College (ISTC) in 1939 with a degree in Business Education (BSED). After graduating from ISTC, Charles Robert Anderson was a teacher at Leonard Business College in Indiana, Pennsylvania for three years. During World War Two, he served in the U.S. Army, and was employed by the Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Company for 35 years. Charles Robert Anderson was married to Gladys Lucille Wiggins Anderson (March 21, 1919-June 20, 1994) who worked at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) for 17 years. Charles and Gladys Anderson had five sons, three of whom also graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP): James R. Anderson, Penn State University, Class of 1970; Edward L. Anderson, IUP Class of 1973; Thomas W. Anderson who graduated from IUP with a BSED degree in 1973; Gary A. Anderson who graduated from Westminster College in 1974; and Kevin C. Anderson, IUP Class of 1979. This collection contains publications and memorabilia, and football programs from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) that belonged to Charles Robert Anderson and his son Thomas W. Anderson. Items and information in the collection dates from 1911 to 2009. The Anderson Family Collection was donated by Thomas W. Anderson and his brothers James, Edward, and Kevin in 2014-2015. Thomas Anderson has also donated numerous IUP Football Game Programs and IUP Athletics Media Guides for Football and Basketball, which are part of Record Group 32: IUP Athletics – Football Team and Record Group 62: IUP Athletics.)
