5 boxes Linear Feet (Clara Ruth Anderson (March 12, 1921-October 23, 2013) was born in Armstrong Township near Shelocta, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Alexander and Mae Bracken Anderson, and she was baptized at Shelocta United Presbyterian Church on June 10, 1922. In 1951, she graduated from Indiana State Teachers College (ISTC, became IUP in 1966) with her undergraduate degree in Business Education. She earned her MA and D.Ed. in Home Economics Education from Pennsylvania State University, completing her doctorate in 1975. She taught Home Economics before becoming a professor in the School of Home Economics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1970. Dr. Anderson’s office was in Ackerman Hall until her retirement in 1987. The Dr. Ruth Anderson Papers includes biographical information about family genealogy, her education, and her career in the School of Home Economics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The collection also includes a sampling of the extensive information collected or written by Dr. Anderson about her travels across the United States and around the world including trips that she made to Alaska, Antarctica, China, Cuba, Europe, Panama, and Russia between 1956 and 2003. This collection was donated by the estate of Dr. Ruth Anderson and Kyle Campbell in 2013.)
