He was teaching RLST 110 World Religions in Fall 2001 when the September 11th terrorist attacks took place in New York City, southwestern Pennsylvania, and near Washington, D.C. During the Fall 2001 semester, after September 11, 2001, Dr. Gibson asked his World Religions students to write journal assignments about their reactions and perceptions of these events using primary sources. Dr. Gibson collected their assignments to create a course archive, which he donated to the IUP Special Collections & University Archives. Series I are student journal assignments, and Series II include newspapers and video recordings about September 11, 2001. The assignments allowed the students to construct research around primary sources as events were unfolding.)
