7 boxes Linear Feet (This collection includes the collections of Dr. Larry Kroah (Series A) and the publications of Ed Colker (Series B). Larry Kroah earned his BA in Modern European History and English Literature from Adrian College (1970), MA in Medieval History from Ohio University (1972), MLS from the University of Illinois (1973), and his PhD in Information and Library Studies from the University of Michigan (1993). Dr. Larry A. Kroah has worked in academic libraries in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Europe, and for 21 years he directed academic libraries at three institutions: the American College of Switzerland, Wilmington College of Ohio, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). He has made significant contributions in leading the technological development of academic libraries. From September of 1985 to 1997, he was the Director of Libraries and Media Services at IUP. Starting 1998, Dr. Larry Kroah became the coordinator for continuing education, associate professor, and later acting dean in the Pratt Institute's School of Information and Library Science in Brooklyn, New York. From 2004 until his retirement in 2010, Dr. Kroah served the Trenton Public Library System in New Jersey in a variety of capacities, including director. Ed Colker is a well-regarded painter, printmaker and poet. His colorful, abstract lithographs depict organic, gestural forms. Colker is also an accomplished writer and has published and illustrated several limited-edition folios. Colker was born in Philadelphia and graduated from what is now the University of the Arts, Philadelphia. He earned his MA at New York University. He has taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; University of Illinois, Chicago; Cornell University, Ithaca; Pratt Institute, Brooklyn and what is now the University of the Arts. Colker founded the not-for-profit fine art publisher Haybarn Press in collaboration with poets to produce limited edition responses to poetic texts. He has been a Guggenheim Fellow and Florsheim Fund grantee. He has exhibited all over the US and his works are in many private and public collections including Harvard University, Cambridge; the Library of Congress, Washington, DC; the Museum of Modern Art, New York and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia. This collection provides details regarding donations made by Dr. Larry A. Kroah to the IUP Special Collections and University Archives. These donated publications are works that were illustrated by artist Ed Colker (born in 1927) who is a printmaker, illustrator, graphic designer, educator, and poet.
