1 box Linear Feet (This collection consists of the high school yearbooks and photo album of Joseph Hajdu (1911-1985) from Cresson, Pennsylvania, and his wife Martha Elizabeth Somerville Hajdu (May 29, 1914-November 4, 2000) a native of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, and later Cresson. Joseph Hajdu, R.T. was an X-ray technician at the Cresson TB Sanatorium from 1930 until the sanatorium closed in 1964, and he retired from radiology in 1973. Martha Elizabeth Somerville Hajdu went to the Temple University Nursing School for a two-year program, and she worked at the Cresson TB Sanatorium as a registered nurse in the 1930s. Joseph Hajdu was the son of coal miner who worked in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Joseph Hajdu and Martha Elizabeth Somerville were married in 1940, and they lived in Cresson, Pennsylvania, where they raised their three children. They were the parents of John Hajdu Heyer, former dean of the College of Fine Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Dr. John Hajdu Heyer donated these materials to the IUP Special Collections and University Archives on August 16, 1999. Box (7 items): 1.
