3 boxes Linear Feet (Dale Landon was a Professor of History at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). He also served as Chair of the University Senate. This collection contains materials gathered by Dr. Dale Landon and used in the class, History of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. This collection contains materials gathered by Dr. Dale Landon and used in the class, History of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. As a promotion for the course, the IUP Alumni Magazine published an article detailing the information being presented in the course. There was an immediate response. Dr. Landon began receiving letters from former students or from the family of alumni, relaying stories of when they attended the Indiana State Normal School or the Indiana State Teachers College. Many items were also received with the letters, included were photographs, memorabilia, graduation programs, music programs, scrapbooks and other sundry items. After completion of the course, these materials and memorabilia were transferred to the Special Collections and University Archives because of their historical significance for IUP and its students (see Record Group 53: Memorabilia and Ephemera).
