It is the oldest social and literary organization in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Several prominent community leaders maintained a membership in the club in the hopes of facilitating more effective communication between the community and the school. The Records of the Shakespeare Club of Indiana County are housed in three archival boxes. The collection, which dates from 1879 to the present, includes club yearbooks, membership lists, financial records, meeting minutes and a history of the club. Of particular note are two photograph albums, which contain studio portraits of many prominent community members and notable professors who taught at ISNS, Indiana State Teachers College, Indiana State College, and IUP who were members of the club. The collection is divided into series: Series I includes club documents and Series II has photograph albums and scrapbooks.
