According to the original 1943 constitution, “The purpose of the organization is to promote interest, appreciation, and participation in the arts. This has been its purpose since it began with a small group which met at the Pattison home, “The Rambles,” in about 1930. The Art Association encourages the growth and development of the arts in Indiana, Pennsylvania, through education and the exhibition of the Association's work. The IAA collection is housed in five archival boxes. The records include Association announcements, Articles of Incorporation, oral history interview on audio cassette tape, compact disk, the IAA Constitution, financial records, Guest Books, correspondence and letters, meeting minute books, newspaper clippings, newsletters, photographs, programs, registers, rosters, scrapbooks, Special Exhibits, Spring Show Books, and yearbooks dating from 1943 to the present. Provenance In 1975, IAA President Ellen Musser appointed a Historian Committee to preserve IAA’s records. IAA records from 1943-1975 were donated by IAA to the IUP Special Collections and University Archives. Later records were preserved by charter IAA member Martha Russell and given to Barbara Fritsch to prepare for IAA’s 1991 donation to IUP. Shirley Kraft gave IAA records to Barbara Fritsch to add to and reorganize the collection in 2010.)
