Beginning in 1959, the Public Affairs Forum has been an annual event on the IUP campus. The event provides a platform for views of contemporary political issues to be aired before the college community by notable political figures, scholars, and journalists. The Forum has dealt with issues ranging from the environment (Our Polluted Environment: The Search for Solutions) in 1970 to foreign policy (American Foreign Policy: Beyond Détente) in 1975. In the early 1980s, the forum was re-named the Raymond L. Lee Public Affairs Forum in honor of Dr. Raymond Lee, long time chair of the event. Since the mid-1960s, the Forum has been financed by the Student Cooperative Association of IUP. Presently, the collection contains detailed records of the Forum from 1960 to 1976.
