Extent
6 boxes Linear Feet (The Center for Community Affairs was founded in 1976 to forge a strong link between the university and the surrounding community. The university's resources and research capabilities were applied to meeting the needs of communities in Indiana, Jefferson, Armstrong, Clarion, Butler and Westmoreland counties. Local government, business, and community service organizations could rely on the Center for Community Affairs for assistance with planning and organizational issues. Surveys and seminars were among the primary means by which the Center for Community Affairs attempted to bring about community improvement. Surveys on the delivery of police services, needs assessment for local Red Cross chapters, and conferences of fair political practices are just a few examples of past projects of the Center for Community affairs. In 1989, the Center for Community Affairs was replaced by the Institute for Research and Community service, which places more emphasis on the research needs of the university. Much of this collection deals with the Blairsville Project, and the collection dates from approximately 1976-1988.)
